Rachel Massie says:

They are bad this year! Just removed one from my dog last night after taking her out. Thankfully, it was not fully embedded or engorged at all yet. I’m so glad I check us both every time we out. It’s kinda a pain but definitely worth it!

Kelly says:

Thank you for the info😵‍💫❤ I’m so relieved I dodged a bullet by removing one immediately😵‍💫

Cirrus Floccus says:

Where I live there are basically no ticks, I run through forests all of the time, off roads, without long pants or anything and have never been bitten ONCE. However, once I went on vacation and visited the nearby forest. Five minutes in, I noticed some ticks on my legs, got rid of them and turned around to get some protective clothing… suddenly multiple ticks started crawling up my legs and for each one I threw off, another one would follow. It was horrifying. Needless to say, I went home and never visited that forest again…

As a vet, little fork for dogs is the best way to remove ticks!

Mazzy says:

I had Lyme disease as a child, luckily my mom noticed the bullseye rash before I got too ill!

Katalin Banffy says:

Our doctor said that the 24-hour window for Lyme disease is unfortunately not true. I have 2 people in my family who got Lyme disease and the tick was removed within an hour in both cases. I also know a family and their 6-year-old son got Lyme disease and the tick was removed within a half an hour. So, this 24-hour thing related to ticks does not seem to hold true.

Just saw one photo, but ticks can latch itself under the gum line of the dog

Great video Dr. Dray!!! Thank you!!! 😁💗😁

Sheila says:

That prompt shower when coming in from a hike caught many ticks before they attached to me. Highly recommend that strategy. I also used to strip in the garage and throw clothes straight into the washing machine upon returning from a hike. I also found that the ticks would land in my hair so pinning my hair up and under a hat and washing my hair upon my return also helped to keep ticks from attaching. I probably should mention, I did ecological restoration work in public parks for years so contact with ticks was inevitable.

Would love a video on new silk filler

Hi Dr.dray there's a coffee gadget called FINAL PRESS BREW can you check it out and review it please.?.😊

Elisabeth Jackson says:

Alas, it's perfectly possible to not notice the tick on your skin and only spot the bullseye rash after the fact. And I get not wanting to cause anxiety in terms of 'how worried should I be' but equally it's a good idea not to be as blase as I was. 12 years later and still dealing with the ramifications. IYKYK.

Edith Farr says:

Your videos are always informative. Thanks, Dr. Dray!

So I went running tonight and felt something on my neck itch and end up ripping a small black bug off me. Idk if it was a tick or not. I did shower with in an hr of being home and it wasn’t on me for that long. Is there anything I should do in the meantime or just keep
My eye out for the hallmark bullseye appearance ? Thanks dr dray!

BBL_Fam says:

Sadly, many doctors are woefully ignorant of tick-borne illnesses. If they don’t tell you to save the tick, dismissing the risk of diseases, they often don’t have good information about where to send the tick for testing or what to do if the tick tests positive for diseases. I have pulled two ticks from my children at different times, paid out of pocket for mailing the ticks to a lab (most labs don’t participate with insurance) and both tested positive for Lyme. The ticks were both engorged and we had no idea how long they were attached. I had to argue with my pediatrician to pursue a Lyme protocol after learning the ticks were Lyme positive. Neither child developed the “bullseye”, which many people incorrectly assume always occurs if a person has been infected with Lyme. It’s also true that tick-borne diseases DO NOT always present soon after the tick is found (if it was found). This is no joke…please encourage testing the tick at a designated lab, and for people to search for doctors willing to treat for Lyme, etc.
