During our 2022 Rides, we did not encounter any tics, however in 2021, we had a few.

We Always Check our selves after each ride.

And use some sort of Repellant.

We most of the time forget to bring any, it's on our mental list of things to bring, but we forget.

You don’t ever want to disinfect a wound or a bite with alcohol. It’s safest to clean it with antibacterial soap and water or a 1:1 peroxide sodium chloride solution.

Oh my god, is this what bit me? For about a week straight now I’ve continued to have severe itchy skin on my legs and arms but I mean an intense itch that I can’t help myself but to scratch and scratch until I bleed and it’s often on the same areas around the legs and arms!! Can someone please tell me what the hell could be wrong with me?

Red Dirt Nurse says:

I needed to watch this last week. My tick was feeding, and after I (stupidly) dowsed it in methylated spirit, it was noticably smaller. Obviously, it had regurgitated it's stomach contents back into me. Following removal of the tick, I cleaned the area with iodine.

It's been a week and the area is annoyingly itchy, but that's to be expected I guess.
