now days with complex electronics, jumper cable is thing of the past when a good portable jumper battery cost $50 that can be carry in the car along with other emergency kit. I just charge the battery couple times a year just to have a full power ready to go if need for jumping, charging portable electronics, etc.
Procedure is not ok. Correct steps to be followed are: Switch off all electrical items in both the cars. Switch off the ignition and take out the keys from both the cars. Connect one end of the Red jumper cable to the Positive (+) terminal of the dead battery, mostly Red. Connect the other end of the Red jumper cable to the Positive (+) terminal of the good battery, mostly Red. Connect one end of the Black jumper cable to the Negative (-) terminal of the good battery, mostly Black. Connect the other end of the Black jumper cable to some unpainted metallic part of the car with the dead battery. Note: For safety do not use the Negative (-) terminal of the dead battery. Start the car with the good battery and let it tun for some time. Now start the car with the dead battery. It should start. If it doesn't wait for some more time and try again. If it still doesn't start call a mechanic. Disconnecting the jumper cables should be done in the reverse order of the connecting sequence.
Close but no cigar you cant start the dead battery with the live battery running the alternators will spin against eachother and damage electric components
Living proof a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. This guy is going to get someone hurt. The black connection on the dead car has to be connected to ground, ie. any steel under the hood you can get the clip on.
More importantly, disconnect the black cable first and the red cable last.
I'm tow truck driver I do this for a living You make sure that the live battery vehicle is on before you make the connection because if you hook up to the dead battery and the vehicle's not running it can automatically short the live battery and you'll be in a position where your car won't start! You always hook up the live battery first and then hook up the negative the dead battery not simultaneously life battery both hooked up positive negative and then hook up the positive homework dead battery and then the negative
The last connection should be to s ground that is not on the battery. My neighbor had a sealed battery explode when off gas ignited from a spark. Make that last connection to an engine bracket etc.
Make sure the keys out of the dead car it might trip the locks. Also turn the side lights on the voltage surge wont blow any control modules if its got somewhere to go 😊😊
Bonus questions: In what direction does current flow? Positive to negative or negative to positive? After the vehicle is running, where does "ground" move to?
Im a mime i just rhyme

This is very wrong in modern cars. You must attach the black to ground in the dead car after starting the car that is good and running.

At this point in life, you should forego jumper cables and get a jump pack.

Great video keep up the great work 💯👏
Also when you start the car with a dead battery always unhook jumper cables

Red (hot) lead goes on both positive terminals, Black (ground or 0V reference) lead goes on both negative terminals or any unpainted metal
The last connection should be to s ground that is not on the battery.

Make that last connection to an engine bracket etc.
Do not start the good car….
Just get a jump box, easier, safer and way more useful.
always hook the dead battery first dead and or charging lead acid batteries can offgas and that spark can cause an explosion not likely but safety

NO!. Connect the earths first then the positives.
All batteries dont have a red cap on the positive.
Better to use a jumper cable
Bonus questions: In what direction does current flow? Positive to negative or negative to positive? After the vehicle is running, where does "ground" move to?
God ur a fountain of knowledge 😂😂😂
Only charge with the good battery. Do not attempt to start the dead battery car connected to the good battery. Protect your electronics.
You know what's better? A jump pack!!
Never trust a man who wear gloves to jump a car off
